The graceful and evasive pheasant survives by hiding in tall grass; its smooth lines and earth tone markings are designed both to delight its mate and blend in with the environment. Allen says of this sculpture, "I wanted to show the grace of line from the pheasant's head to tail tip, the uninterrupted flow of form. His spiked feet strongly contrast with his smooth body, and the textured base adds another dimension to the whole piece."
