A Mayan legend says that hummingbirds
were made out of the scraps of feathers left after the creation
of the larger birds. The enchantment of hummingbirds is caught
in this sculpture, no easy task when working in bronze. Allen says, "The
magnificence of these small birds is difficult to capture, but
I believe the success of this piece comes from the delicacy of
the branch and the eye contact between the birds which gives
the piece warmth and intimacy."
